Liz Atkins, the owner of Atkins Piano Service, is a 1991 graduate of the 2 year program at
the North Bennet Street School, with both the Certificate and the Degree in Piano Technology. She studied
under David Betts, Christine Lovgren and Jack Stebbins. She was employed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and
the Baldwin Corporation at Tanglewood, the summer home of the BSO where she learned concert preparation tuning,
regulation and voicing techniques from the late Andrei Svetlichny. She is a Dampp Chaser Field Expert in the
installation of their humidity control systems for the piano. Her special focus is voicing for the most
beautiful tone possible, no matter what kind of hammer the piano has.
Bob Cassidy is a 1974 graduate of the North Bennet Street School, where he studied under Bill
Garlick. He is a registered craftsman of the Piano Technicians Guild and has restored and rebuilt many fine
vintage American and European grand pianos, as well as select fine uprights. He is a touchweight specialist,
going the extra mile to improve the feel and repetition of every piano action that comes through the
shop. He is a Dampp Chaser Field Expert in the installation of their humidity control systems for the
Bob and Liz have been married since 1995 and have worked together at Atkins Piano Service and
Bob's company, Acton-Concord Piano since 1991. They have fun joining forces on their piano
projects, each of them bringing differing perspectives and accomplishments to the craft of piano
restoration. They enjoy vacationing on Nantucket with their dog, Lydia.
